Answers to questions about your stay at Hawkhill Resort

Answers to questions about vacationing in Hawkhill

Guests often wonder about the same things when planning a holiday or visit to Haukkamäki. We’ve gathered the answers all in one place so they’re easy for everyone to find!

Are pets welcome at our villas?

Yes. Well-behaved pets are welcome in all of our villas. Owners are responsible for their pets’ behavior. We kindly ask that owners ensure their pets stay within the grounds of the rented villa and, after their stay, check that the yard and nearby paths are clean and free of any holes or mess left behind.

The pet fee is €25 per snout, per booking.

Can I bring my own bed linen?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own bed linen and towels. The villa rental includes beds, mattress toppers, duvets, and pillows. You can either bring your own linen set (fitted sheet, duvet cover, and pillowcase) or rent them from us, already made up on the beds.

The price is €20 per set if ordered in advance, or €25 per set if arranged on-site. Each linen set also includes a bath towel.

The villa beds are standard size, 200 cm x 80 cm. The only exception is Villa Taavetti, which has a few beds sized 200 cm x 90 cm.

Are there spices, toilet paper, coffee filters, baking paper, or foil at the villa?

Each villa comes with 4–5 full rolls of toilet paper. There is at least one full roll of paper towels, and usually coffee filters (size 104) can be found in the cupboard. The rental also includes a bathroom hand towel and a kitchen towel. All towels are replaced with fresh ones after every check-out, and the used ones are sent to the laundry.

Usually there are some basic spices left behind by previous guests, but we do not replenish them. So if you want to be sure you can season your food with a specific spice, it’s best to bring it with you. We also do not replenish baking paper, foil, or cling film.

Each villa has a small supply of candles as well as a few boxes of matches, kept on hand in case of power outages. Of course, you are also welcome to use them for creating atmosphere. Each villa also has one flashlight.

Do the villas have cleaning supplies?

Yes, all the necessary tools and products for the final cleaning of the villa are provided. Dishwashing detergent is also available, both for the dishwasher and for washing by hand. Detailed cleaning instructions can be found in each villa – or you can book the final cleaning through us.

Please also take a look at the check-out instructions.

Can you go rowing at the villa? Are there life jackets?

Yes! Rowing is part of the cottage holiday at Hawkhill. Each villa has its own rowboat for guests to use freely. In addition, the villa is equipped with two adult life jackets and one child’s life jacket.

If the child’s life jacket is too big or too small, or if you need more life jackets, different sizes can be borrowed free of charge from the Hawkhill lending service. You can find more information about the lending service on the “Free Activities” page.

We will be arriving a bit later. Is that possible?

Your arrival time is very important to us, as we personally welcome all of our guests whenever possible. The normal check-in time for all Hawkhill villas is 4 p.m.

If you would like to arrive later, that is perfectly fine. Please let us know about the later arrival in advance, preferably a few days before your stay. You can send the notice by text message to our on-call number +358 503 122 701 or by email to

Could we arrive a bit earlier on the arrival day / leave a bit later on the departure day?

We have reserved the time between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. for villa maintenance, and during this period the entire Hawkhill team is very busy making sure the cottages are serviced and cleaned to perfection for the next guests. For this reason, it is difficult for us to be flexible with check-in and check-out times.

That said, you are of course welcome to ask separately by calling our on-call number +358 503 122 701 or by emailing

Can a log cabin be rented for just one night?

Our policy is that the minimum rental period is 2 nights. Renting for one night essentially creates the same costs as for two. For this reason, the price for a single night in a cabin is almost the same as for two nights.

Check-in for the villas is at 4 p.m. and check-out at 12 p.m., so one cottage day also ends up being quite short. However, if you would like to book just one night or evening, you are welcome to request an offer from us!

Do the villas have ice swimming holes, or can I make one myself?

Ice swimming is possible at four of our villas. At the end of the piers at Villa Taavetti, Villa Maria, and Villa Juhani there are dipping holes, which we keep open throughout the winter season. Villa Armas has a wonderful pump-maintained ice hole. The ice holes are only for the use of guests staying in that specific villa.

At the beginning of winter, before the lake is covered with ice, swimming is possible from the piers of all villas, as each cottage is located peacefully on its own lakeshore. Once the ice cover forms, however, for safety reasons it is not allowed to make an ice hole at the other villas’ piers. For the same reason, making your own ice hole is also not allowed.

Can I bring a hot tub or a tent with me?

Bringing hot tubs, tents, camper vans, or caravans to the villas is not allowed.

Our thinking is that we already have a wonderful lake, and each cottage has its own shoreline. In summer you can take a refreshing dip, and in winter the bravest can enjoy ice swimming. Responsibility is important to us, and heating a hot tub and constantly changing the water is not environmentally friendly.

Why don’t we allow tents, camper vans, or caravans? We want the area to remain peaceful so that everyone can enjoy nature.

Are firewood included in the rental price?

The cottage rental includes about 100 liters of firewood, waiting for you on the villa’s terrace when you arrive.

If you would like more firewood, you can order it at €30 / 100 liters. Delivery is within 24 hours on weekdays (Mon–Fri).

Can I organize parties or bachelor(ette) parties at the villas?

We also rent out our villas, cottages, Hawkhill’s lean-to shelter, and the Clubhouse for celebrations. If you are planning a party or a bachelor(ette) party, please contact us by phone at +358 503 122 701 or by email at before making a reservation. This way, we can make sure together that the celebration suits our facilities and that the cottage peace is preserved for neighbors across the lake as well as for the neighboring villas to the one you have booked.

Music at our villas may only be played indoors, in such a way that it does not disturb the surrounding area. We do not rent our villas for wild parties. The listed prices shown on the villa websites are based on normal use of the villas. For celebrations or other events where the maximum number of guests is temporarily exceeded, we will provide a separate offer.

Can I drive all the way to the villa, or do I have to leave the car farther away?

Yes, you can drive right up to the yard of every villa. In winter, Teuvo (our dad) plows the small roads all the way to the villas. Depending on the villa or cottage, the yard can accommodate three to eight cars. We recommend arriving by carpool to reduce emissions and to help keep the roads in the Nuuksio area as quiet as possible.

Are the cottages accessible? What about the activities?

Three of our villas have accessibility improvements: Villa Maria, Villa Taavetti, and Villa Eino.

Some of the activities we offer are also well-suited for guests with reduced mobility. For example, a canoe trip at Haukkalampi, a wild herb excursion, a nature walk on Nuuksio’s trails with an all-terrain wheelchair (available for rent), or a birdhouse workshop can all be arranged accessibly. We can also design a company wellbeing or recreation day program to be fully accessible.
